Watch the transmission on your Tls. I imagine I dont have to tell many of you that especially if yours is around 2000ish. Our 2002 3.2 TL transmission went out about 2 wks ago. Luckily we were able to get it replaced for free under warranty and the recall. We were quite suprised, especially since it had been several years past the original recall. But thanks to past issues with the dealer, they did all the work for free. If yours hasnt gone out, or feels like it, might wanna get it checked out

My wife's 2001 MDX had 115,000 miles on it and the transmission began not shifting right. The dealer tried a recommended quick fix, but that lasted less than a week. They finally ended up replacing the tranny completely as other early model MDX's were experiencing the same thing.

While it is disheartening for Acura to have this quality issue with their transmissions, to their credit they owned up to the situation and in our case and others I have heard about, repaired or replaced them at no cost. Any product can have problems, especially one as complex as an automobile. It is how the manufacturer handles the situation that separates those who want to serve the customer and have a long term relationship and those out for a quick buck.

Thanks Acura for your integrity!

Did you notice any reduction in performance after the tranny replacemnet. The dealer told us that the computer was detuned on my daughters car.

2003 TLS - failed at 80,000. Was in the week before in for service & mentioned that it was shifting oddly. Said they checked it and it was fine. No mention of any recall, bulletins etc. Following Friday wouldn't upshift from second to third in auto mode, went into a neutral type mode. Happened merging on to a busy interstate. Called the dealer immediately, said to bring it in. Factory rebuilt at no charge, no questions asked. I know 3 other '03's with same problem at approximately the same mileage.

About a week after the repair noticed some fluid under the car. It was engine oil. I took it back & they told me the rear main was bad ($800.00+). I asked why they had the trans out and didn't replace at that time. The Sev Manager called Honda and they agreed to fix at NC. If it happens to you make sure they replace the rear main seal!
