Why doesn't the Acura RL have a V8?

I know the V6 is powerful, but why doesn't Honda build a V8 for its flagship lux sedan?

From several conversations with people associated with Acura / Honda the word on the street is that Honda is developing a V8 powerplant that will be flexible enough to work with several platforms. But that's just rumor of course...
