The latest issue of Autoweek (June 30th) has a feature with photos of what is possibly the next generation NSX running hot laps at Germany's Nurburgring. The prototype bears many similiarities to the Acura Advanced Sprots Car Concept revealed at the 2007 Detroit auto show.
It is widely reported that the next NSX will feature a front mounted V10 engine.
Another school of thought is that Honda / Acura will market a separate and distinct sports car to sell in the $65,000 range vs. the expected $100,000+ NSX figure mentioned. Speculation centers on reports that after a lukewarm response to the 2007 concept compared with the Nissan GT-R and Lexus LF-A sports cars, Honda sent its design team back to the drawing board.
Most industry insiders believe the next gen NSX will be introduced in 2009 as a 2010 model...but hey, I have been hearing that speculation for years.
Just a personal observation, but to me the photos shown in Auroweek look to be a cross between a Corvette and an Audi. The shape didn't impress me at this stage, so I hope the designers do some tweeking.
