In a ceremony at Harvard University the awards for the "Ig Nobel Prize" were made. Actual Nobel laureates bestow awards for winners such as the following:
* One team proved that Coca-Cola has contraceptive effectiveness. It seems that the drink acts as somewhat of a spermicide, and not only that, but Diet Coke works best. The Atlanta based soft-drink giant refused to comment.
* A Duke University behavorial economist found that more expensive fake medicines work better than cheaper fake medicines.
* An Oxford University professor discovered that potato chips that sound crunchier taste better. Among his previous findings is that diners who purchase seafood believe the food taste better if they listen to ocean sounds on an iPod while eating.
* An associate professor of psychology at the University of New Mexico knew from prior studies that women are more attractive to men when at peak furtility. He took this one step further by working with exotic dancers. His "studies" indicated average earnings for a 5 hour shift were 40% to 60% greater when the women were their most fertile - and some lap dancers even schedule shifts based on this.
* A Brazilian professor won an "Ig Nobel" for his research proving that armadillos can aid archaeology by moving artifacts at dig sites by their burrowing.
* Another winner discovered that fleas living on a dog can jump higher than fleas that live on a cat.

I don't think I believe the claim of the winner checking out the exotic dancers. I need to look into this claim personally...in the name of research and science of course...
