Heater Core

Has anyone replaced a heater core themselves? I have a 1998 TL, with 148,000, I suspect the heater core is bad. I know these can be hard to replace because of the location, in the dash behind the firewall... i had one go out on a Toyota, the coolant came inside the car, awful smell to get rid of...

Are you getting coolant inside the car? Although it is certainly possible for a core to develop a leak, you'd want to be sure before replacing it. I only really have delt with Integras, so can't speak for your car.

You can have the system pressurized to check for leaks........or start by looking for leaks or the coolant level dropping.
