Yesterday I was talking with a gentleman with Acura and discussing the next generation NSX and it's expected debute. He indicated that from his somewhat inside sources it really is not to be expected until 2010!!! Hopefully this can not be true. Rumors have been circulating about the replacement since well before it's final production run in 2005. On the internet and at auto shows there have been several iterations of mock-ups for hype.

I understand that a sports car milestone can not be designed and produced in a short time span, however the gap between our current NSX and what is to follow seems excruciatingly long. At 62 years old I can't afford to wait much longer. I would like to see it while I am still able to depress a clutch!

Mark my words - in the next couple of years Honda will release a FR GT to compete with the Aston's and bigger Italian's and then in another couple of years they'll roll out a new MR platform that will be the "true" NSX successor.

'Course I may be wrong, but it makes sense to me.

From what I've heard the ASC has been scrapped (thank god).. the HSC has been toast for years. But-- there is a silver lining, the V10 powertrain that was meant for the ASC is still alive. The same V10 that was in the hacked up S2000 test mule (Porsche 911 Turbo killer). From what I saw of the video and pictures, the mule was streched wider and longer in the middle, somewhat hinting at a MR layout. I'm pretty sure the suspension is totally different from the OEM S2000 suspension so Honda may actually be pretty far along -- just cant seem to make a body that will appease the masses. I personally say it should stay MR and just beef up the NSX's original looks -- the HSC was in the right direction, just a little too overboard, kinda resembled a spaceship to me.

Honda should do what they did with the original NSX, make a world class performer that demolishes cars that are 3x the price, all while being Honda reliable and looking amazing. The only reason I feel the original didnt sell rediculously was because of the small V6 powerplant, but if the V10 makes it into the new one-- I dont see why it wouldnt sell like hot cakes to the people who can afford it.
