This from Huangping, China-
All students at Luolang Elementary School in southern China know the key rules: Do not run in the halls / take your seats before the bell rings / raise your hand to ask a question, etc.
And now they have another rule. Salute every passing car on your way to and from school.
Education officials established this new policy to reduce traffic accidents and teach children courtesy and respect. Failure to abide by the new rule is punishable by various minor things, such as detention, extra work, etc.
I guess this is just one more reason I would not want to live in China. We visited there several years ago and while the trip was enjoyable, the lack of freedom sucks...to use an unofficial term.
