The 1952 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith once belonging to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and her second husband Aristotle Onassis is going up for auction. This is not just any 1952 R-R, but one with upgrades. Special features include a cigar box - Ari did like a good smoke, body and glass bullet proofing and rack-and-pinion operated windows, whatever that means. The 55 year old vehicle has but just 8,000 miles, or less than 150 miles per year! And I thought Ferrari owners kept their cars parked a lot.
Don't get ready to gas up just yet. When it goes on the block at the Red Baron Auction house in Atlanta October 13-14, it is expected to fetch between half a million and $750,000! While that amount could max out your credit card, the Red Barron says he has several entertainers and sports figures interested.
Now let's see - for $750,000 you could buy over 20 nicely outfitted Acura TL's, but I guess that won't impress your friends. It would however give you more reliable transportation and the maintaince for the 20 will be less than what it takes to keep the old Rolls rolling.
