Just a quick post with results from Japan on the Formula One race. In an exciting and very wet race Hamilton extended his points lead by driving to victory! He was followed by Kovalainen second, Raikkonen third, Coulthard fourth, Fisichella fifth, Massa sisth, Kubical seventh and Liuzzi eighth for points.

Barrichello and Button in Honda's finished 10th and 11th respectively. The Super Aguri Hondas were Sato 15th and Davidson 17th. It was an overall dismal finish for all Japanese teams.

Alonso retired after heavy contact with a wall to end up 21st.

More to follow later.

That was a boring, boring race. The last lap was pretty fun to watch.

O.K., I admit that I was involved in something and did not see the start nor first part. When I did pick it up I thought the rain added some excitement. Of course with Formula One these days it dosen't take much to do that.

I am rooting for Hamilton and it appears the forum poll participants are as well. It was nice to see some of the mid pack teams finish better than usual, but discouraging for the Japanese related teams. I feel for Davidson who was running very well until being collected by Vettel while running under caution. For his mis-step Vettel will be penalized ten positions at the next race. That seems fair but dosne't do much for old Anthony. Such is lifr - and racing.

So when put into perspective I think this race had more going for it than many of the past contest. Now if the FIA would just ban paddle shifters and go back to a manual gear shift operation, remove some of the reglatory restrictions and modify the rules a bit I think we could get back to real Formula One style racing. Yes, I am sure all of that is going to happen in my lifetime...
