What do you call a collection of almost 100 NSX's at one event? FUN!!! Or you could call it NSXPO 2007. This weekend in Columbus Ohio is the annual NSX gathering with cars from the West coast to the East coast and North to Canada, and guest from as far away as Japan and Hawaii. Along with just under 100 cars there are 175 attendees. Althought all of the cars are NSX's, there is an umbelievable assortment of modifications, styles and colors. The award for the highest mileage car was for 173,174 miles...and still running strong!
Thursday night was the meet-and-greet to kick off festivities. Friday began with a brisk drive to Wright Patterson Air Force Base. It is agruably the finest Air Force museum in the country spanning air travel from the Wright Brothers to space and everything in between. Folowing a nice lunch at the Officers Club it was off on a circuitous and fast route eventually ending up at Lamborghini Ohio, the largest Lambo dealer in the country. Lamborghini Ohio was a gracious host and opened the entire shop to us. Following a delicious dinner prizes were awarded with the top one being a very fast ride with the owner of Lamborghini Ohio. Although special "NSX ONLY" deals were offered, there were no takers.
Saturday was filled with seminars and demonstrations during the day and an evening dinner function. Our guest speaker was Mr. Forrest Gramlin, primary engineer for R&D at Honda's Maryville Ohio facilty. Forest gave an informative and entertaining talk, but declined to share inside information on the next generation NSX - although proded several times.
Tomorrow will be a visit to Honda's Transportation Research Center for demonstrations and hands on practice of automotive dynamics. Due to the confidential nature of the work going on at the TRC, photo ops will be very limited.
NSXPO 2007 will close with two track days at the Mid-Ohio race track.
I am happy to report that so far there have been no mishaps nor traffic citations, although there was just cause for the latter.
Next years event will be a drive for those NSX'ers on the East coast as it will be in Portland Oregon. Due to weather situations NSXPO 2008 will be in Septmber rather than the usual October.

P.S. - Incidentally the gentleman in the 4th photo down is Mr. Hirofumi Tomiyoshi san from Japan. Hirofumi is president of the NSX Club of Japan and has attended several NSXPO's over the years.
