In the October 15th issue of "U.S. News & World Report" now on news stands the cover is devoted to "Finding The Best Car For You". The article points out how subjective automobile reviews can be. An example sited is the Jeep Compass. According to a raving review in the "Detroit Free Press" it received 4-out-of-4 stars and gushed, "It's a new kind of Jeep, and a successful one." However if you checked it out in "Car & Driver" their take was "The name says Jeep, but the vibe says cheap...with all the passion of a rubbish-bin lid."

"U.S. News" says they have an unbiased rateing system based on different data from different sources. With that in mind they attempt to discern the top preformers in an assortment of categories from sports cars to SUV's. Frankly Acura did not fare as well as I would have guessed. While it is true that each category only listed the top three picks, Acura's were only mentioned in two of them.

Under "Luxury Midsize SUV's" our beloved MDX was ranked #3 behind the Lexus RX 350 first and the Infiniti FX second. The other was the TSX coming in tied for second with the Volkswagen GTI for top pick in an "Upscale Small Car". An interesting note is that virtually every category is dominated by an Oriental brand with the notable exception of "Affordable Large SUV" where Chevy and GMC lead the way.

In spirt of this, I still love our Acura brand!
