Many companies in various industries tout the rating they receive from J.D. Power & Assoc. Power rates products and services from all aspects of life. Among those are automobiles of course, electronics, travel, insurance, health providers, etc. I frequently go into a business and see the photo of the award - the one with the clear arched acrylic shape, black & gold logo and gold base - and sometimes have even seen the actual award in a companies lobby showcase.
I assume that their findings are legitimate and unbaised, but I sure see a lot of winners. In checking the auto section Acuras scored "among the best" or "better than most" in almost all categories. For front impact safety all scored the highest rating, five stars, and that is encouraging.
I wonder how many potential car buyers check J.D. Power out prior to making the purchase? I have bought many vehicles and never once did I even think about checking their take on it. Since so many products are seemingly awarded their high rating, is it even significant? Any thoughts???
