Question: How much information is included on the 2008 Acura navigation system? Would you say that a million is a large number and sounds about right?

Well, you would be off just a bit - six million plus or so as over 7,000,000 points of interest are available. And that's a lot!

My wife's 2001 MDX had a navi and we loved it and thought it was everything you could want. But when she bought her replacement 2005 MDX with the "new & improved" navi she was amazed! Features include voice recognition and the latest Zagat survey among others. Some people recommend not buying the factory navigation systems offered but instead opt for an after-market add on. I really think that the Acura OEM navi enhances your Acura ownership satifaction.

It helps you to "feel like a local" wherever you drive!

What are others thoughts about dealer navigation vs. after-market?

I love my Acura OEM Navigation unit,I don't leave home without it.:)

Aftermarket units however are great as well and are definitely cheaper. Are you getting what you pay for?Not sure about that but I know a few people that have the aftermarket units and are quite happy with them.Heck I have one friend that can actually surf the internet, play movies and do so much more then the OEM units. You can even buy units that plug right in and look like OEM for a fraction of the cost.

I think I would still go with OEM if I had the option but thats just me.:)

With 7 million points of interest and a bluetooth enabled phone no wonder Acura decied to get rid of onstar. You can do more with the system and not have to worry about paying a monthly fee. Acura is "Froward Thinking".
