Of course any automobile, yes, even our beloved Acuras, can have a recall issue. There are many internet sites containing information about recalls effecting specific makes & models, but one with good details seems to be www.lemonauto.com.
In checking out recalls for various cars it appears to me that Acura is relatively "recall free" compared to most. As I understant it, when dealing with automobiles there are various levels of service related issues before a recall notice is mandatory. Some people refer to them as "silent recalls" in that you have to have the problem and then when presented to the dealer it will be addressed rather than being legally notified by mail of a problem.
My wife's 2001 MDX with 116,000 miles recently started having transmission shift problems. Acura was aware of this happening in many others and to Acura's credit they performed the repair - a replacement tranny - at no charge. (How many U.S. manufacturers would have done this?). Has anyone had experiences with "silent recalls"?
Note - The mention of the LemonAuto web site is not a recomendation, paid or otherwise, but just one that I think works. Any forum members know others to share?
