I was re-reading an issue of Sports Car International from January 1993 where the feature article is a comparison between the NSX, Porsche Carrera 2 and the Nissan 300ZX Turbo. Incidentally Sports Car Internal ceased publication in 2008 due to lack of revenue. However it was a well done auto magazine.
The cars were tested by four independent sports car drivers for comparison. Conditions varied from freeways, suburban highways, hilly countryside, desert roads and city driving.
In price of course the Nissan came in first as it was nearly $26,000 cheeper than the next most expensive car, the Porsche. Our NSX was slightly more pricey than the Porsche (and worth every penny of it). As one reviewer said, "The Nissan just isn't playing in the same league".
The Nissan has the most power and torque of the three, but is also the heaviest, by well over 400 lbs., and was the slowest in performance tests.
Of the four drivers, three said the NSX was their first choice and the fourth said it tied for first with the Porsche. No surprise there.
