This isn't an Aprl Fools joke, but an Atlanta retailer is selling diamond studded Nikes for $50,000 (but you do get two shoes for that). The seller believes there to be a market for "bling for your feet". Their thinking is that if people will buy diamond studded bras, iPods, and purses, why not sneakers?
They take a pair of "cheap" $225 Air Force 1 So Cals and add a diamond encrusted logo cast in gold. The 11 carat sneakers will be unveiled November 27th, but a mock-up was displayed at the recent BET Awards and sparked dozens of inquiries. I wonder if a pair of Dr. Scholls insoles are included or if you have to pay $2.25 extra to the $50,000?
Now, to add a little fun to the site and see if anyone is reading this bit of nonsense - although the story is true - here is the deal. The frist member who responds to this post with the correct answer to the following question will receive the soon to be famous gift set of Acura Forum note pad and laser engraved pen!
The question is - thinking about sneakers, there is another large manufacturer of sports shoes called Adidas. Who is the founder and namesake of Adidas? So off to Google and hurry back.
