The duPont Registry, that glossy and expensive - I think it goes for about $10.00 - magazine that displays items most of us would kill to own has listed its three best exotic winners. Drum roll......
The Best Exotic - and the winner is...the Hennessey Venom 1000 Twin Turbo. This is one instance where the name is actually sold short since it makes 1,100 horsepower! Zero-to-60 is 2.9 seconds and you have to wait 19.6 seconds to go from 0-200 MPH. All this pleasure for a mear $225,00 which is really somewhat of a bargain in terms of super-car prices.
For the Best New Exotic they voted the Audi R8 with only 420 HP. At $109,000 it is less than half the Hennessey so you can buy a "His & Hers". Although I have not as yet seen this car in person many reports indicate that it is too small - too short. I would like to test drive it however.
And lastly the exotic with the Best Bang for the Buck is the Dodge Viper SRT10 with the monstrous 8.4 liter V-10 engine that puts out 600 horses. The SRT10 will take you from a standstill to 60 MPH in 3.8 seconds and that's not too shaby. This is a lot of car for around $84,000. It's sharp and fast, but will it stand the test of time as well as the NSX? Absolutely not, but some folks want to buy an American sports car other than a Corvette.
One interesting point about this scenario is that the execs from Honda can see that Audi isn't afraid to build an exotic sports car that sell for over $100k.
