You want a new car
Something with style-
One built to last
And go a long while
Look over the competition
Narrow it down to a few-
Read all about them
And Google 'em too
When you shake it all out
I think you will find-
Buying an Acura
Gives great peace of mind
Burma Shave...
(O.K., for the younger members of the forum, there was a company called Burma Shave that made shaving cream - that white foamy stuff some men still use in spite of the electric shaver revolution - and their marketing department came up with a great marketing plan. At that time America was really taking to the road so the marketing genius' developed the idea of posting a series of simple poems along the highway in the form of one liner signs every 100 feet or so).
An example -
Grandpa's beard
was stiff and coarse
and that's what caused
his fifth divorce.
Burma Shave...
They not only sold a lot of shaving cream, but in doing so became a part of Americanna. My Dad liked to travel and consequently we took many trips and I recall seeing the Burma Shave signs along the highway. Around the early 1960's the signs were dropped in favor of something more contemporary. What a shame.
Several movies have incorporated the Burma Shave signs including "The World's Fastest Indian" - which by the way is a super movie!
