View Full Version : Thinking about a used Acura for my Daughter....Suggestions?

My daughter is only 13 years old now, but will be in need of a car in a few years. She has always been an extremely responsible kid, straight A's, etc, etc, etc. We have always told her that if she continues to be the way she is, we will reward her with a nice car (not a new car, but a nice used car). I am well aware of insurance rates for New Drivers, but have always been impressed with Acura's reliability and overall great product offerings.

Since I don't know too much about the product lineup, can the experts give me some good suggestions on years/models that they feel would be a good car for a first time driver? I don't want to spend $10k, but somewhere in the $7k range would be reasonable (I think). Can a decent used Acura be had for this price, or am I all wet?

Thanks,

Greg

As the saying goes, Hondas and Acuras are bullet proof. I'm sure they are teenager-proof too, just have to be sure the car was maintained properly. Reciept of records are always a plus.

Greg it may be hard to find an Acura in that price range that is in good condition.I would suggest a Honda Civic or maybe even an Accord. As 4re308 said Honda products are bullet proof and as long as they are previously well maintained either would be a perfect first car for your daughter.

Thanks, guys! Perhaps I need to look into a Honda; no worries there, either. Keep in mind, I won't need this car for about 3 years, so perhaps this price range I speak of will be more reasonable at that point. Nonetheless, I'll start my research on some Hondas, as well.

Thanks,

Greg

Tough to really say Greg.I'm not sure where you are form but i'm guessing the base model Acura would be the TSX.Acura's also hold there value very well so i'm not sure if you would be able to pick one up around the $7k mark.

In Canada we have the CSX which is a redesign of the EL.Five year old El's can easily fetch over $10k.
