According to industry insiders, the Acura RL, which was last redesigned in 2004, is due for another update in 2008. Lackluster sales are cited as the primary reason. Through last October sales were off 47% compared with the same period a year before.

Many feel that the lack of sales are due to several factors, including styling, V6 power in a class of V8's, all-wheel drive instead of rear wheel like competitors and interior room. Sources at American Honda have confirmed that a facelift will happen, but shared no details.

Although I have looked at the RL in dealer showrooms, I have never driven one. My thoughts are that it is quality built with many luxury features, but possibly a bit pricey compared to the rest of the market segment. Also, for me the styling needed more pizzaz.

What do forum members think about the RL?
