1973 Datsun 240Z
Mileage: 102,000
Color: White (Original color)
Engine: 2.4 liter in-line 6 cylinder (72’ 240Z carbs)
Transmission: 4-speed manual
VIN#: HLS30 - 144814
Location: Sugar Hill, GA
Very Original California Car!
Exterior: The car is extremely solid overall with very minimal surface rust in a few locations. It has a few dents on the front left fender and the paint is cracking on the driver’s door by the handle and on a spot on the rear hatch. It is not perfect by any means, but as you can see by the pictures, the car is in good shape and very well maintained. All the chrome and trim work is complete, the chrome shines bright and the trim is in very good condition.
Interior: The seats are in great shape along with all the other vinyl covering in the car. The headliner is clean and flush, all the gauges work in the dash and in the side pod everything works but the clock, and the interior lighting all works. The dash suffers from the usual cracks, and the rear section of the center console has a crack in it. The entire interior is original except the stereo which has been upgraded to a tape deck a few years back from a Nissan.
Drivetrain and Brakes: The engine starts quickly and pulls strong all the way through the power band. I haven’t noticed any signs of oil leaks. The oil pressure reads good and there are no overheating issues. Hoses, belts and the radiator were all replaced about two years ago. You will notice that all the rubber is supple and void of cracks. The only thing modified about the engine is that it has carburetors from a 1972 240Z, because those were adjustable, otherwise all drive train is original. The transmission is in great shape and goes in and out of each gear smoothly. The clutch has no slip or unnerving sounds and the clutch pedal has a good solid feel to it. The brakes have a great feel and the components all look to be in good shape. The brakes do not pull in any direction and do not cause vibration. The master and slave have been replaced about 2 years ago.
Electrical: The only issues I am aware of are that the back up lights do not light up when in reverse and the wipers while in, and only while in intermittent mode, do not always return to the bottom. Other than that, the car is very electrically sound.
Underside/suspension: Minus one spot in driver’s side floor well the size of a tennis ball, this car is solid as a rock. The suspension is responsive and recoils properly. The shocks were replaced about 2 years ago. And with higher quality tires the car would probably handle a bit better, but it already handles very well. The feel through the steering wheel lets you know that there is no slop or play in the suspension.
History: The title is clean and clear. I have spoken with the previous owner a few times and he has informed of the work that has been done to it. He has also confirmed that the miles are original and that his mechanic was quite certain of it as well by looking at the condition of the engine internally. I have current receipts and I also have the original owner’s manual that is in good condition.
