The question in todays "Car Talk" section of the newspaper deals with using an egg to stop a leak in your radiator. The general theory is that if you have a small radiator leak you can put in two raw eggs and the eggs "cook" and are drawn to the leak thereby stopping it.
The reply from the experts is that it could work - for a small hole...at least for a while. However, the eggs can also plug up your heater core as well, and create worse problems.
Their recommendation is to invest the four dollars or so in a can of Stop Leak or AlumAseal rather than something that came out of a chicken's behind.
Frankly, I had never heard about using eggs to stop rediator leaks. I do however recall once when my brother put sawdust in an antomatic transmission to smooth out the shifting. It worked...for about a day.
Does anyone else have other "poultry automotive cures" to share with us?
