As Derrick Pride, 39, of upstate Syracuse drove himself to the hospital after being shot, he crashed and was charged with DWI. He was treated for a shoulder wound and a splitting headache.

* Talk about criminal child abuse -
A Tennessee woman was busted after getting her 11-year-old son to commit armed robbery at the financial-services office where she once worked. As Angela Evans waited in the getaway car, her son walked in with a stocking mask over his face, held a gun to a woman's head and took $80. Evans gave him $20 as his cut of the proceeds.

* Two things that do not belong in the same sentence: "rocking out" and John Denver -
Wisconsin police responding to a noise complaint found a man doing just that -- rocking to Denver's "Rocky Mountain High" so loudly that he didn't hear them pounding on his door. They finally got his attention and hit him with a $200 summons.

A California strip-club owner arrived for work one morning and found blood trailing from a broken window but nothing stolen. Surveillance tape revealed that a 150-pound goat had crashed through the front window.
